Pros and cons of The Last Express app for iPhone and iPad

The Last Express app good for

Gorgeous and challenging adventure, in the style of old LucasArts hits, but more non-linear and real-timed. One of the best games in iPad definitely
One of the best adventure games of all times, really nice and subtle storytelling, great characters and, well, Orient Express. For fans of old school style adventures.
A PC classic reborn. Fans of point and click adventures, mature stories reminiscent of Agatha Christie and Art Nouveau will be very happy with this game.
I first played this on PC when I was 14, and its remained one of my favourite games ever since. Its tough, but incredibly rewarding: the writing and voice acting are still top-notch, and the real-time mechanics add an additional layer of immersion. I cant recommend this game enough. I will restate that its not a casual time-waster, and demands your focus and 12-15 hours of your time, but its well worth it.
Never played the original, but happy I got to experience this game, the atmosphere in the game is very detailed
About ten years ago, I remembered seeing this game played on a cousins PC. At the time, I was wowed by it. The then, I left the house and never saw or heard of it again. Until now. At first glance, the game appears to have aged very poorly, and is complex to the point of being overwhelming, but after playing for about 20 minutes, the whole system will start to come together. And than you can get started. How is it? AMAZING. THE WHOLE THING PLAYS OUT IN REAL TIME WITH GOD KNOWS HOW MANY DIFFERENT ENDINGS, AND TWISTS ALONG THE WAY, AND ITS NUTS. Literally every decision you make has weight to it. Thats not something you can say about most modern games, putting this in its own league. Youve never played anything like this game. And thats a shame, because we could all do with more of this.

Some bad moments

Lets get one thing clear -- I love the story and the ambition of this game. But It is that ambition that ultimately gave me trouble. The story takes place in the months leading up to World War I and a lot of the political activities of the time are evident on the train ride. Its an intelligent and interesting puzzle you are wrapped up in. Its an ambitious game because it can be played non-linearly. And therein lies the problem. This caused a huge problem for me while playing. The gameplay is pretty awful. It relies on a system of "do-overs" as you advance through the story, so if you die, you can rewind time and start over. You will probably end up doing this a lot and its very frustrating. Im surprised that even as long ago as 1997 when the game came out that they thought this was a good idea. There is no worse experience than doing things over and over again. Long story short, I got nearly to the end of the game when I died and I couldnt figure out what I did wrong. Then I read a walkthrough on the Internet and discovered there was a small item I needed to find at the beginning of the game that wouldve kept me alive. The game let me play through nearly the entire thing despite the fact that I would not be able to reach the end without practically starting over. Does that sound like fun? Also some of the required actions are not intuitive. Without giving away spoilers, you need to put something somewhere that you just would never think to do in real life. Its just stupid and you have to "cheat" to find out what to do correctly. Based on this I cant recommend it, despite one of the best and most intelligent and adult story lines in a game I have ever experienced. Hope this helps you decide ...
Did not like at all, its has very poor graphics and its hard to play!
It may be a incredible game BUT it really doesnt work for iOS. You cant play in wide screen and the original gameplay pushed in the small screen make it really difficult; even if you have a good sense of direction, its easy to get lost and bored in the train. And, if you have hearing impairment like me, there are no subtitles. Go for me, do not spend five dollars on this.
This game play is very difficult and this game doesnt really give you objectives and has no help menu! It is not worth buying! The graphics are very complicated since it is not smooth at all! Buy egnigmatis instead which has way better game play and smoother graphics with an interactive help menu!
I played this back in 1997 and loved the comic-book style graphics then. I was thrilled to see this game given new life in iOS. Graphics are excellently done and reveal character emotion surprisingly well. The story is a gem in and of itself with enough fun and suspense, action and romance, to to keep the player entertained to the end.
I cried a little when I heard this game was finally coming out for the iOS. This a game that was truly ahead of its time when it was released in the 90s. It was obscure then because of Broderbund going bankrupt, but that seems like it was meant to be.
